Michelle was born in San Francisco, California, and comes from generations of proud military members. After living in many places, she now calls San Diego her favorite home. With 10 years of experience as a dental hygienist, Michelle is passionate about creating a positive, comfortable experience and helping change the way patients feel about the dentist. Outside of the office, she enjoys home construction projects and spending time with her close-knit family, including her Smile Gallery family.

Kianna

Kianna is a graduate of UEI and has been a valued member of our team since 2025. She quickly became a great fit within TheSmile Gallery family, bringing a positive attitude and a caring approach to every patient interaction.
Outside of the office, Kianna enjoys spending time with her family, making memories with her nephew, and being with her dog, Bella.

John – Dental Assistant

John is a food and wine connoisseur and enjoys trying new places with his wife and son. He is also an avid runner and outdoorsman. Traveling is a big part of John’s life and he loves any opportunity to see the world. John is also fluent in Spanish and enjoys connecting with our Spanish speaking patients.

John has been in the dental field for 21 years. He is an expert on the Cerec crown machine and provides valuable insight for all types of crown restorations. His genuine care for patients and calm demeanor puts you at ease from the moment you walk in.  John’s commitment to quality dentistry makes him the perfect addition to our team.

Royce

Royce has been in the dental field since 2000 and brings over two decades of experience and dedication to patient care. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene, graduating summa cum laude, after completing her undergraduate studies at the University of California, Riverside and her dental hygiene training at Southwestern College. Royce joined our practice in 2023 and is known for her professionalism, compassion, and commitment to helping patients achieve healthy, confident smiles. Outside of the office, Royce enjoys spending time with her niece Omi and nephew JT. She loves running, exploring new places, and making memories with her other half.

Lina

Lina has been in the dental field since 2015 and brings experience and dedication to her role at The Smile Gallery. She plays a key role in keeping the office running smoothly while ensuring patients feel comfortable, informed, and confident in their care. Outside of the office, she stays busy with her son’s sports, enjoys staying active, exploring new places, and making memories with her family.

Gianna – Registered Dental Hygienist

Gianna has been married for 14 years and they have a daughter, Alexandra, who has been the light of their life since she was born in 2019! Gianna enjoys working out, spending time with family and traveling!

Gianna was born and raised in Fresno, California. Her interest in the dental field came from her mother, Gena, who has been a hygienist for over 40 years. Gianna attended Loma Linda University and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Dental Hygiene in 2007. She loves her profession and has been told by many patients that she is “gentle yet thorough” which she strives to do. Gianna is a member of the Western Society of Periodontology and is laser certified.

 

Bodie

Bodie, a Goldendoodle, is our team mascot, who loves making people smile! With his calm demeanor and friendly personality, Bodie helps patients of all ages feel more relaxed and at ease during their visits. Whether it’s a comforting paw or just his soothing presence, Bodie is here to make your dental experience a little less stressful and a lot more enjoyable. When he’s not at the office, Bodie enjoys long walks, belly rubs, and playing with his human sister, Lexi!

Do this twice a day to relieve a toothache.3. Clove OilClove is an excellent essential oil for relieving any dental pain. It contains eugenol, a natural anesthetic that’s great for numbing nerves. But because of its potency, you have to be careful with how you use it.Avoid pouring the oil directly onto the affected area. Instead, place a couple of drops onto a cotton ball and put it on your tooth. Or you can add a drop of clove essential oil to your oil pulling routine. Use this oil about three or four times a day.4. Ginger-Cayenne ComboBecause of its ability to reduce swelling and inflammation, ginger can be an immediate pain reliever. Cayenne also works well because its main chemical component, capsaicin, can help keep messages of pain from reaching your brain.Make a paste of these two pain relievers. Mix one teaspoon of powdered ginger with water and one teaspoon of cayenne pepper. Swish a cotton ball around in the paste to cover it, and apply the cotton ball to your tooth.Leave the cotton ball on your tooth for a few minutes. Be careful to keep it on your tooth only as this combo can irritate the gums.5. Oregano OilOregano oil is another potent essential oil that can temporarily relieve a toothache. With antiseptic and analgesic properties, oregano oil is effective in reducing pain and swelling. It’s known for its chemical makeup that kills bacteria responsible for causing pain.Use a Q-tip to apply oregano oil to your tooth. You don’t need much oregano oil for it to be effective.6. Olive OilPhenolic compounds give olive oil anti-inflammatory properties that will help reduce your pain and swelling. Dip a cotton ball in olive oil and place it over your tooth a few times a day.7. OnionWhile the idea of sucking on a raw onion might not sound appetizing, your teeth will thank you. Onions can kill germs responsible for causing a toothache, and they can help relieve your pain.Place a small piece of onion over your tooth for a few minutes twice a day. The onion will attack the germs allowing you to relieve your toothache. 8. Tea Tree OilTea tree oil can penetrate into your gums and help numb your nerves causing your toothache. Add tea tree oil to a glass of water and use it as a mouth rinse a few times a day to relieve a toothache.9. Sip Some TeaTannins in tea can help reduce swelling and pain. Peppermint tea especially both tastes good and provides pain relief.Steep one teaspoon of dried peppermint leaves in a cup of boiling water for about twenty minutes. If your dentist notices that your wisdom tooth has shifted and will threaten the jaw, they will send you to a specialist who handles wisdom teeth removal.Tooth DecayYour wisdom tooth might pop up on its own without pushing too much out of the way. If this is the case, you might be thinking you’re out of the woods and that you won’t need to worry about wisdom teeth extraction. While this is sometimes true, it very rarely is the case. Because your mouth is a confined space, without any room for stretching, you’re likely to see an issue with your oral hygiene the more that your wisdom teeth grow in. Consider, if you will, the advice made popular by teen magazines back in the 90’s, which recommended brushing your teeth to the length of a popular pop song. This will help guarantee that your brushing is thorough and done long enough to make a real difference in your hygiene.Floss NightlyMore than anything, flossing is perhaps the most overlooked part of our dental hygiene routines. Think of the number of times your dentist has called you out on not flossing enough. I’ll bet you argued with them, trying to say that you did in fact do the required flossing. You can’t fool a dentist, however, because they have a direct line into your teeth. Not flossing enough leaves you with swollen gums, built up plaque, and a whole-lotta cavities. It’s recommended that you floss nightly, ridding your mouth of daily food particles that might have been caught between your teeth, which can easily turn into cavities. Take some time immediately following your nightly brushing to quickly floss your teeth, taking care to reach the teeth in the back of your mouth in particular. Remember, it takes twenty-one days to turn something into a routine, which means it should become second nature after only three short weeks.Rinse With MouthwashMouthwash is usually seen as something that is suggested and not required. While this may be true, mouthwash should be seen as an extra form of protection against the common problems that can occur in your mouth. Because of mouthwash’s strength, it has the ability to kill as many as 99% of the germs that cause gingivitis after only thirty seconds of swishing. Be careful to only use mouthwash as recommended (once per day) and after you’ve brushed your teeth and shifted around germs that can cause plaque or decay. Using mouthwash regularly will help strengthen your teeth’s enamel, protecting those pearly-whites from decay.Brush the TongueLike mouthwash, brushing your tongue isn’t something that your dentist will enforce, but rather something they will encourage. Brushing your tongue is something that should be done with great care, as reaching too far back may trigger your gag reflex, and/or cause you to hurt your uvula (that thing that hangs in the back of your throat). After you’ve brushed your teeth, give your tongue a gentle swipe to help keep it clean and free from bacteria. But things like too-hard French fries, toffee, and chewing gum can have just a big a detriment on your teeth’s enamel. Be careful about what you’re putting into your mouth. Even scrounging at the bottom of a French fry container and coming up with a crispy fry can crack a tooth, while toffee and chewing gum can pull out crowns and loose fillings.
